BMO EDUCATION & OUTREACH
Access to learning experiences in the arts remains a critical national challenge. Theatre Junction, with the support of BMO is committed to providing educational opportunities to develop the talents of aspiring and professional artists, cultivate appreciation within a diverse audience demographic and build bridges to connect arts and business communities.
“Creativity is crucial to solving problems in science and engineering but is usually overlooked and rarely encouraged.”

THE RBC EMERGING ARTIST WORKSHOP SERIES
In the RBC Emerging Artists Workshop Series, visiting artists being presented in our season, share some aspect of their unique creation process with the emerging and professional theatre, dance, music and visual arts community in Calgary through an intensive workshop.
Theatre Junction’s Emerging Artists Workshops are the only free professional theatre classes offered in Calgary. Through these Workshops, our local artists and citizens are given the opportunity to interact with and learn from leading creators in local, national and international live art across disciplines.
THEATRE JUNCTION’S HIGH-SCHOOL MENTORSHIP PROGRAM
This year, our program begins with an intensive 3-day performance workshop offered by Theatre Junction artists, director Mark Lawes and writer/performer Raphaele Thiriet, in collaboration with visiting multi-disciplinary artist and director Erin Brubacher, August 27-29.
Ten students will be selected at the end of this workshop to be part of the 2015-16 mentorship student program. The 2015-16 mentorship student program will give the opportunity to all of the students selected to see all of the shows of our 2015-16 season for free, to learn about live performance with professional artists and be a part of a creation.
Theatre Junction is committed to developing a context for contemporary performance in the city of Calgary. Our Outreach programs reflect our belief that the artist is in a unique position to imagine new ways of living and being together that will activate the spectator and ultimately transform the society.
Theatre Junction invites all of the artists presented in our season to participate in post-performance discussions with the audience, mediated by members of our team at Theatre Junction, including our annual University of Calgary intern. Artist Talks give the public the opportunity to interact directly with the work they have just experienced.
